Origin
Lincoln Park is one of Hudson County’s historic jewels, laid out in 1905 as West Side Park, renamed in 1930 with James Earle Fraser’s “Lincoln the Mystic.” The tennis plant has long been enormous (historically about 21 tennis courts).
Pickleball is a newer overlay on that tennis facility. There isn’t a founding saga. Jersey City’s big county park tennis complex now hosts reserved pickleball, popular enough that the county singles it out with Braddock for phone reservations.
A tennis cathedral that learned to share the asphalt.
