Battle of the Parks™Retrofit
Around August 2022, Bayonne DPW Superintendent Tom Cotter converted underused tennis space at G. Thomas DiDomenico 16th Street Park after volleyball players sought a hard surface (vs sand at Collins Park). The courts were painted for volleyball and pickleball, a practical municipal retrofit, not a community-board fight.
Most “Bayonne pickleball” talk points here, on the Newark Bay / Hackensack River waterfront.
Paint, nets, and a waterfront park that made room.
Today
8 dedicated outdoor asphalt courts at DiDomenico. Nets provided per listings; often listed not lighted. Public / free in directories. Park hours sometimes described ~6 AM–10 PM (confirm with the City of Bayonne).
